Course Description:
Have you ever wondered how your different skills could be combined for the benefit of your patient? Manual therapy, acupuncture and pain sciences are discussed, integrated and applied to patient cases. Practical sessions using needling and manual therapy are included. Safety guidelines will also be summarised in light of the most recent research.
The goals of the course – To:
Review key mechanisms of manual therapy and acupuncture in the light of current pain sciences
Discuss combining acupuncture with manual therapy
Review current safety guidelines for acupuncture
Review contraindications to manual therapy
Select treatment approaches for common patient presentations including:
- Cervicogenic headache
- Lateral epicondylosis
- Impingement syndrome of the shoulder
- Lateral ankle sprain
Lots of take-away back to work skills and needling!
*Please Note: All attendees must be registered in New Zealand and have a current APC.
To attend this course you should have 80 hours of needling training with at least 40 hours being outside of Dry Needling. If you are unsure whether you meet the minimum requirements, please contact the PAANZ administrator PAANZ@physiotherapy.org.nz
