What is the Physiotherapy Outcomes Study?

PNZ launched the physiotherapy outcomes study on 31 August 2022.

The primary aim of the study is to assess the viability and benefits of capturing patient reported outcomes in real-time at different stages of physiotherapy treatment. The study focusses on musculoskeletal clients only, identifying health changes from treatment, as well as client satisfaction. This evidence will enable PNZ to better advocate on behalf of its members.

How does the study operate?

The PNZ outcomes data collection system automates collection of standardised patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient reported experience measures (PREMs) from clients undergoing physiotherapy treatment.

Clients are sent surveys at set intervals during and following their physiotherapy treatment to determine progress with their health condition.

The intervals are at intake, 6 weeks, three months, and six months following completion of the intake survey.

Participating physiotherapists and clinic staff may be interviewed once or twice throughout the study so we can hear about your experiences and challenges.

Withdrawal from the study is possible at any time during its operation.
