Foundation Acupuncture Part A and B - Safety and starting acupuncture
The Foundation Acupuncture courses Parts A, B, C and D courses are designed to introduce safe needling and both Western and Traditional concepts of acupuncture practice.
The courses are for beginners and participants who want to extend their acupuncture knowledge and skills beyond dry needling or those who need an acupuncture refresher course.
These courses can be used in part to gain Registration as a Physiotherapy Acupuncturist, which requires 150 hours of dry needling and/or acupuncture training.
There are no prerequisites for this course, however they are to be completed sequentially.
Foundation Acupuncture - Part B - Western Acupuncture
Part B is a 2-day course. Western Acupuncture theory is explored in more detail and the sentinel 'points' theory and practice learned during the previous weekend (Part A) is extended. Clinical reasoning strategies as to why local, segmental or big-point extra-segmental needling is explored.
More acupuncture points will be learned as well as the application of acupuncture needling to regularly seen conditions in practice.
Case study analysis will guide treatment of some common conditions relating to degenerative conditions, acute injury healing and how not to over-treat your patients.
Please note:
Following on from doing this course, Part C (Traditional Acupuncture) and Part D - Sports Acupuncture are also available.
Pre-requisites:
Parts A and B are to be done prior to Part C and/or Part D, unless eqivalant courses have been done.
All attendees must be registered in New Zealand and have a current and relevant APC.
