Professional Indemnity Insurance
Physiotherapy New Zealand (PNZ) recommends all members practising physiotherapy in New Zealand have Professional Indemnity Insurance cover.
Insurance Through Physiotherapy New Zealand
PNZ has partnered with BMS Group to offer members insurance for 2019.
This means that as of 1 November 2018 you can add annual Professional Indemnity Insurance from BMS to your 2019 PNZ membership for $92 (similar insurance was $98 through PNZ in 2018), including runoff cover at no additional fee.
It’s important you get the highest possible value from being part of PNZ. To ensure members continue to be offered the most comprehensive and competitively priced insurance, PNZ has worked to review insurance policies from a number of providers going into 2019 membership renewals. This comprised a detailed examination of insurance options, including runoff cover for members who retire or leave the profession.
The result of this review is that PNZ is now offering members insurance through BMS – international leaders in health professional insurance and providers of insurance for both the Australian and Canadian Physiotherapy Associations. Headquartered in London, BMS have offices around the world and employ over 375 people. BMS also offer a range of additional insurance cover options for businesses, such as cyber insurance.
Professional Indemnity Insurance through PNZ can be purchased in the same way as in 2018, when you sign-up or renew your PNZ membership. Please remember, if you purchased Professional Indemnity Insurance through PNZ for 2018 your current policy will expire on 1 January 2019. To ensure continuity of coverage, make sure you renew your membership along with your insurance.
As we’ve changed insurance providers this year, if you have a current professional indemnity policy with AON please communicate any potential ‘known’ events or claims with AON prior to 31 January 2019 to ensure you’re covered. Any ‘unknown’ events or claims will be covered under the new Professional Indemnity Insurance from BMS, should you purchase this.
